Many pro drummers "pitch match" their drumsticks by holding one in the air and tapping it with the other stick. They listen to the pitch and then reverse to listen to the pitch of the second drumstick. If the pitch is exact (or real close), they buy them. While this drumsticks tip is controversial (some think it goes a bit overboard), many drummers swear by it.
