Ever break your bass drum beater while at a gig? Simply find a screwdriver around the same size, turn it upside down with the shaft facing upward and screw it into place. This will definitely hold you until you can buy a new one. Just be careful not to play too hard with that screwdriver in there or you'll ruin your bass drum head.
